Keep the Cromptons alive
Preserving two Class 33s takes fuel, parts, paint and people — and every penny of it comes from supporters like you. Make a one-off donation, or join the group and become part of the story.
Where your money goes
The SELG is run entirely by volunteers, so donations aren’t swallowed by overheads — they go on the things that keep two sixty-year-old diesel-electrics earning their keep.
- 1
Fuel & consumables
Diesel, lubricating oil, greases and the everyday materials that running days and working parties get through.
- 2
Parts & examinations
Replacement components, gaskets and the scheduled exams that keep both locomotives safe to run.
- 3
Bodywork & repaints
Keeping 33063 and 33065 looking the part — panel repairs, preparation and paint.
- 4
The long-term fund
Building reserves for the big-ticket jobs no heritage locomotive escapes — power unit and bogie overhauls.
